The Story Behind Freedom Poultry
My name is Matt Prine, from the Fightin' Texas Aggie class of 2003! I have been married to my stunning bride, Cammy, since 2008. We have five children (12, 10, 8, 5, and 3) who love exploring our family property. In 2018, we sold our home in the city and moved out to the country, where I have been building my house myself. We are Christ-followers - first and foremost and this has shaped our lives more than anything else. I have served as a pastor in Texas since 2006 and I am currently serving as one of the pastors at my church in Bryan, TX where I get the privilege of serving the Lord. Our faith has driven much of our philosophy of how we raise our animals and how we steward the land. We believe that as God's image bearers (Imago Dei) and representatives in the world, we have been given the task of taking care of all that He has created (Genesis 2:15). This is vast and includes caring for other divine image bearers - other people - and taking care of the earth and all of the creatures who live here. This is why we want to provide our customers with the highest quality poultry possible, packed with as many nutrients as possible to fuel their bodies. Additionally, we want to treat the animals that the Lord has entrusted us with, with the highest level of care and dignity. These chickens and turkeys were created by God, and because of this, they are worthy of dignity. We do not cut corners, because we aim to work with excellence - as though working for the Lord and not for man (Colossians 3:23).
We are currently a very small operation - often raising flocks of chickens and turkeys that are 200 or less in number - but we hope to increase our production as demand increases.
